Rick Ross has legal trouble. The rapper was arrested by Miami Beach police early Thursday on domestic violence charges, including felony battery by strangulation, according to Miami-Dade jail and court records.
Ross, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 6:10 a.m. this Thursday, multiple outlets report.
The 50-year-old rapper faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery. Earlier this week, his girlfriend Jazzma Kendrick had accused the rapper of hitting her, showing her injuries on camera on social media. Both charges are listed as involving domestic violence.
Bond was listed at $5,000 on the battery by strangulation charge and $1,000 on the battery charge, making it a total of $6,000. An arraignment is scheduled for October 22, 2026, while authorities have yet to release the full arrest affidavit.
His lawyers have released a statement:
“William Roberts II, professionally known as Rick Ross, is being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend whose true motivations are unclear. The ex did not even file a police report until a month after the claimed incident allegedly took place. Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges. He respectfully requests that his friends, fans and the general public not prejudge the situation and allow the judicial process to run its course.”
