In a landmark legal victory, Chance The Rapper has won a 6-year long legal ordeal against former manager Pat Corcoran. According to the judgement, Pat would have to forfeit up to $1.5 Million in merchandise and merchandise-related compensation (as well as undisclosed vendor commissions) to be determined by court.
The Cook County Circuit Court Judge James E. Hanlon Jr. noted that Pat had a pattern of changing testimony based on audience and that he had “a habit of saying whatever the moment requires.” The judgement came in after examining independent witnesses, documentary evidence and Chance’s own testimony. The biggest blow in this has been to Pat’s credibility as a manager.
“I’m grateful to finally close this chapter of my life and can’t wait to eventually tell my side of the story. I’m thankful to the courts and, more importantly, to God for remaining faithful,” said Chance in a formal statement in conclusion of the legal battle.
