Pharrell, who is otherwise also known as Skateboard P, has just launched a new shoe for Louis Vuitton inspired by skate shoe design. Except, the design is eerily similar to Vans, a company known best for its skate shoes.
Pharrell was seen sporting the latest red Louis Vuitton SS27 shoes which undeniably resemble the Vans shoes, and the company was quick to take notice. Vans’ Instagram handle was seen commenting on Pharrell’s post, saying “ohhhh bet” — insinuating that they’ve taken notice of the fact.
From the design of the seams to the black line on the side sole and the overall cut of the shoe (barring the crocodile skin like texture on the LVs), everything seems to be similar.
Vans then responded by sharing their own shoe over instagram, with Clipse’s lyrics that go, “Wanna know the time, better clock us.” In addition, they also made a statement denoting their design as “the authentic — off the wall since 1966.”
After commenting on Pharrell’s post, Vans doubled down and shared a lyric from ‘Mr. Me Too’ by Clipse and Pharrell in the caption, a track known for taking aim at copycats

Perhaps the producer in Pharrell sampled a bit more than he should have. What do you think?
