Earlier this year, The Weeknd announced that he will be changing his stage name to his birth name, Abel Tesfaye.
“I’m going through a cathartic path right now. It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter,” the singer told W magazine recently. “I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn.”
The superstar had changed his names on social media to Abel Tesfaye but retained the handles, @theweeknd. Now we have a rough idea when the switch officially will happen. Diddy revealed that the last collaboration Abel does as The Weeknd will appear on his forthcoming album The Love Album: Off the Grid. It is scheduled to arrive on DSPs Sept. 15th.
Diddy teased the song a little as well. Check it out below.
