ASAP Rocky Reveals Production From Hit-Boy, Tyler, Metro Boomin, Boi-1da, Alchemist on ‘Don’t Be Dumb’ Album
ASAP Rocky is in album mode.
The New York rapper has released his new single ‘RIOT (Rowdy Pipe’n)‘ today which has production from Pharrell Williams. He’s also featured in the brand new Beats by Dre campaign which contains the new song as the soundtrack and Rihanna’s voice as guest vocals.
Now in a new interview with Complex, Rocky reveals some of the producers who have contributed to his next album Don’t Be Dumb: Tyler, the Creator, Madlib, Hit-Boy, Boi1da, Alchemist, Metro Boomin, Mike Dean, Hitkidd and more. That is certainly a very solid list.
The rapper added that continuous leaks from the album has been one of the main reasons for its delay. “They gotta stop leaking it! These dummies got to stop leaking shit. Every time, we have to go back to the drawing board, but right now I think it’s in a place where we tightened it up and we really can’t make or break anything right now,” he said, adding that he’s in album mode. “We in album mode, it’s time to start rolling out the project. This is just a single for the project. This is really happening.”
He also confirmed that rising Latin star Peso Pluma will be featured on his album. “Yeah, we were working on something for my album. I f**k with him. I love the fact that he’s successful right now, he’s doing his thing all over Spotify and Apple and whatnot. And he’s going crazy overseas, especially in Mexico, doing his thing. But I genuinely like him because he is of the culture. He told me a crazy story. He was just like, “Yo, I remember I used to work at this pizzeria at this restaurant downtown in Little Italy. I remember just taking the train and listening to ‘1 Train’ and ‘Peso.’” I was like, “Yo, you fucking me up.” He said, “I lived in New York when you popped off.” So for me, it felt like the right thing to do.”
The talented creative says that being with his family and friends now takes up most of his day and he’s far from the wild boy he once was. “It’s honestly about being true to yourself and me being true to me. The prior Flacko is just females, lean, and weed and no-good niggas and women around all day. That was 10 years ago. I think now that my reality is more so I have a little mystique to me, I really don’t like to be on Front Street all day. I’m really just cooling with my lady and my little man and all that, that’s just it. Other than that, I’m with the creatives at AWGE and a few friends and I call it a day. That’s simplicity for me.”
