Tory Lanez Files Appeal in Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Conviction

Tory Lanez has filed an appeal against the conviction verdict in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case.

The Canadian rapper was found guilty on all the three charges in December: felony count of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. He currently faces more than 20 years in prison for felony weapons and charges with his sentencing scheduled for next month.

According to Jose Baez, Lanez’s attorney, jurors were “erroneously permitted” to examine an Instagram message that purports to show Lanez saying that Kelsey Harris, Megan’s ex-friend, wasn’t the shooter. Lanez filed a declaration from his content creator Joshua Farias stating he was behind the social media comment. Lanez had later claimed Harris was responsible for the shooting.

TMZ reports Baez also says that prosecutors submitted a shirtless photo of Tory with a firearm tatted on his chest. During trial, prosecutors said it was merely for identification purposes, but Baez says that the prosecutors used the photo to influence the jury to believe that his client was fond of weapons.
